The Grade 3 class have been learning about the Ainu culture in our Social Studies class this term. We have been learning about the things they do every day, what they believe is important to live, and the food they eat. We recently made Ainu soup together in the classroom. The students cut carrots, potatoes, and Japanese radishes and added it to the soup. We added Hokkaido salmon for the flavour. The students enjoyed the soup! It is exciting for the students to learn about Japan’s first people! (Mr. Berry)
